Time Setter 5000

A purpose-built device to set the time, timezone and mode on Casio F91-W watch modules.

The watch module snaps into a custom pogo pin jig to connect to the watch's pcb. A camera above reads the display, a Raspberry Pi senses each segment to interpret the watch display time. We select a time zone on the touchscreen and the rest is taken care of in software and electronics, with each pogo pin selectively grounding buttons on the module. Once it’s done, it checks itself and gives a green light if everything looks good.

We made this to reduce the time and mistakes we make setting the time on Casio F91-W modules when we make Solid State Watch. Because these watches are permanently sealed into its case with no buttons, the time and day of the week need to be set to the appropriate time zone before we make each watch.
