CW&T exists to create the things we want to see in the world.
CW&T is the art and design practice of Che-Wei Wang & Taylor Levy.
We concept, design, and make real the things that we want to see in the world. These are objects and bits of code that we were spurred to make a reality to adapt, augment, and transform our surroundings into something better than what was there before.
The results are thoughtfully made, carefully considered, and overly engineered to do what they do and do it well—often for multiple generations. They’re made for the individual, to patina with your own wear and tear, and become a part of your life. Everything is made to be the last of its kind you’ll ever need.
We sketch, design, and prototype all our products from our Brooklyn studio. What we can’t do in-house, we work closely with talented manufacturers on to bring these into existence. Every step of the way, we’re touching, tweaking, and refining to make it the best it can be. You can view our obsessive documentation alongside each of our products.

Che-Wei Wang [pron. sey-wey] is an artist, designer & architect with expertise in computational and generative design, fabrication technologies, electronics, CNC machining, and metal manufacturing. The results range from architecture & sculpture to interactive installations & mobile apps. He is the winner of the 2003 SOM fellowship and the Young Alumni Achievement Award from Pratt Institute. Che-Wei has taught courses on design, time, creative computing, and inflatables, at various institutions. He is an alumnus of MIT Media Lab, ITP at NYU, and Pratt Institute.
Taylor Levy [pron. tey-ler] is an artist & designer with a penchant for taking things apart, understanding how they work, and then putting them back together in a way that exposes their inner workings.The results take on a variety of forms from low-tech electronic sculpture to high-tech software & other executions. She has work on view at The Leonardo Museum of Science and Technology and was a resident at Fabrica Interactive in Treviso, Italy. She is an alumna of MIT Media Lab, ITP at NYU, and Vassar College.
The Label System
We make a lot of things. Part of our practice is showing our process. So, From inception to execution, everything we make is assigned a label to track and share its development over time.
From the first sketch at the onset of a project, it's assigned a Project ID. The Project ID is created with a formula that pulls from a selection of variables.
